Cynthia R. Mathis

Cynthia Mathis is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Supervisor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She has over 20 years of psychotherapy experience and provides services for children, adolescents, adults, and families, in addition to facilitating groups. Cynthia specializes in treating children, adolescents, and adults with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety, depression, ADHD, adjustment disorders, and parenting and relational issues.

Her psychotherapy practice is designed to provide a supportive environment for clients to gain insight, increase relatedness, develop positive coping skills, enhance both emotional and social growth, and to improve family and peer relationships. In working with clients, Cynthia uses her systemic training and employs a variety of other treatment approaches to help clients reach their goals, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, play and expressive therapies, and the Greenspan DIR (Floortime) model.
