Abigail O'Leary, M.S., LMFT

Abby is licensed as a Marriage & Family Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Maryland, College Park, in psychology, family science, and human development, and completed her MS in Marriage & Family Therapy at Virginia Tech. Abby has experience working with children, teens, young adults, adults, families, blended families, and couples. Offering individual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, as well as parenting/co-parenting work, family therapy, and couples therapy, Abby has experience working with adjustment disorders, ADHD, anxiety, depression, parenting and coparenting issues, relationship issues, sense-of-self/self-esteem issues, stage of life issues, and individual and family trauma from a systemic and attachment-based lens.

Abby believes that building a strong, safe, and secure therapeutic relationship is an essential component of successful therapy. She works from an intentionally integrated approach to meet your needs. She values an affirming, collaborative, and holistic approach to therapy. Abby is dedicated to understanding the systemic, cultural, and biopsychosocial factors at play in her clients’ lives in order to exploratively increase client understanding of themselves and their problems. She believes this awareness and insight, paired with coping and interpersonal skills and client’s dedication to intentionality and change, can provide clients with the tools they need to grow and manage their life stressors and struggles.
