James F. Herrera, M.D.
Dr. Herrera's has 25 years of experience treating children and adolescents in multiple settings such as inpatient, partial hospital, outpatient and school consulatation settings. Dr. Herrera has expertise in working with families with children or teens experiencing symptoms of: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Mood disorders (major depression, bipolar depression or seasonal affective disorders), developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, trauma, learning difficulties, disruptive behavior disorders, adjustment disorders, school consultation, and second opinion consultations.
Dr. Herrera's evaluation and treatment encompasses ruling out medical illnesses that mimic psychiatric diagnoses as well as medication and non-medication holistic approaches to care. Dr. Herrera's therapy employs a variety of other treatment approaches to help clients reach their goals, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness based therapy, circle of security groups, play and expressive therapies, and the Greenspan DIR (Floortime) model. Dr. Herrera also works to collaborate with schools, pediatrician, therapists, psychologists and all members of a patients team to foster best outcomes.
