Chelsea Nagel is a Resident in Counseling working toward her licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She enjoys working with children, adolescents, families, and communities during both times of strength and adversity. Through her warm and empathetic nature, passion for mental wellness, and willingness to advocate for the needs of her clients and families, she aims to support children’s social, emotional, and mental wellbeing. Chelsea believes that children and adolescents are most effectively supported when families, clinicians, educational professionals, and other members of their community are involved.

Chelsea also has eight years of experience as a school counselor within Fairfax County Public Schools. She has worked with diverse student populations with varying needs including anxiety, depression, family changes, behavioral concerns, executive functioning, and emotional dysregulation. Chelsea’s approach to psychotherapy is eclectic, modifying her approach when necessary to address client needs. She most frequently uses techniques from Child Centered Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness.
